MA Jinnah delivered this speech to the 1st constituent Assembly of Pakistan 11th August 1947.
MA Jinnah referred to two functions of the constituent Assembly in the beginning of his speech.
The first is the very responsible task of farming the future constitution of Pakistan and the second of functioning as a full and complete sovereign body as a federal legislature of Pakistan.
The first function of the Assembly is to maintain law and order, so that the life, property and religious beliefs of its subjects are fully protected by the state.
The second function of the Assembly is to eradicate bribery and corruption with an iron hand as it is really a poison for our nation.
MA Jinnah refers to the legacy of nepotism and jobbery in his speech which is a great evil.
The Quid’s views about the division of India are that united India can never work together it will lead us to terrific disaster. The division of India is just the solution of the problem that is unavoidable.
He says about the minorities that it’s no matter what are colour, caste or creed, they have equal rights, privileges and obligations as citizens of this state. They are free to go to their any peace of worship according to their will.
MA Jinnah envisions freedom of thought, speech and religion for the people of Pakistan in general. He wished that all the people should cooperate and enjoy equal rights and avail rights opportunities in this state.
MA Jinnah mean the Hindus would cease, to be Hindus and Muslims would cease to be Muslims, not in the religious sense, because that is the personal faith of each individual, but in the political sense as citizens of the state.
