Food is mechanically broken down during digestion by teeth in mouth and the movement of stomach walls.
How does the digestion and absorption of fats differ from the digestion and absorption of carbohydrates and proteins?
Digestion and absorption of fats:
Bile is secreted from lives that acts on fats which is broken down into water soluble fats (emulsification of fats).
Pancreatic juice lipase that digests the fats and converts it into fatty acids and glycerol.
Intestinal juice from small intestine acts on fats, and its absorption occurs in intestine by lacteal and join the blood stream.

Salivary glands secretes saliva that contain amylase which digest starch.
Pancreatic juice contains amylase that convert sugar into glucose.
Digested carbohydrates than absorbed in small intestine.
Digestion and absorption of proteins:
Pepsin secreted by stomach digest protein and converts it into peptide or amino acid.
Pancreatic juice contains trypsin that acts on proteins and converts it into dipeptides and amino acids.
Absorption of amino acid occurs in small intestine by villi.
