China–Pakistan relations began in 1950 when Pakistan was among the first countries to end official diplomatic relations with the Republic of China on Taiwan and recognize the PRC. Since then, both countries have placed considerable importance on the maintenance of an extremely close and supportive relationship. They both countries have regularly exchanged high-level visits resulting in a variety of agreements. The China has provided economic, military and technical assistance to Pakistan and each considers the other a close strategic ally.
Recently the top universities of the China including School of Journalism and Communication at Renmin University of China have recently stepped up their program offering the professional training to journalists from Pakistan and from the other countries. Since from 1960s it has trained hug number of Pakistani under friendship exchange program. Every year the University admits five young journalists from Pakistan. It shows the relationship between the China and Pakistan.
Today, there are only 5000 Pakistani students studying in China and a much lesser number of Chinese students is studying in Pakistan academic institutions. Efforts are being undertaken to increase this number. For this many agreements has been signed between the Pakistan and China. The Pakistani and Chinese students in each other countries are the natural ambassadors and builders of Pakistan-China relations.
