Aeronautical Engineering is also known as Aerospace Engineering and is one of the most challenging fields of Engineering. It has wide scope all over the world. This field deals with the development of new technology in the field of aviation, space exploration and defense systems.
Aerospace Engineering is a vast field in which you can specialize in designing and construction of aircrafts, development and test the performance of civil and military aircraft, missiles, weapons systems, satellites and space vehicles.
The work of Aeronautical Engineer is demanding therefore he needs to be physically and mentally fit. If you want to be an aeronautical engineer then you should have high level of mathematical precision to be successful in this field.

Education & Eligibility Criteria for Aeronautical Engineer:
Graduate degree B.Sc / B.E or at least a diploma in Aeronautics is necessary qualification to be an aeronautical engineer in Pakistan. The graduate and postgraduate degree courses are offered by the engineering Institutions and the diploma courses are available at polytechnics.
The basic eligibility criteria for a B.Sc / BE is F.Sc or equivalent examination, with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and must have a fairly high percentage of marks in the aggregate. Selection of candidates for B.E course is entirely based on merit i.e. the marks secured in Metric and F.Sc and through entrance test. Bachelor in engineering degree is of four year duration while the diploma courses are of 2-3 years duration.
Career opportunities for aeronautical engineers:
The aerospace industry offers a range of career development opportunities. Aeronautical engineers may move into senior engineer positions, where they oversee work within their department, or move to project management positions.
There are many good job opportunities for aeronautical engineers. As these Engineers work with one of the most technologically advanced branches of engineering so the main thrust in this area is on design and development of aircrafts to space and satellite research. Jobs are available with the national, international, public and private Airline Services as well as aircraft-manufacturing units.
Aeronautical Engineers can make career in various airlines like PIA, Helicopter and flying clubs, private airlines and government owned air service and aircraft manufacturers.
First of all a person holding bachelor degree in aeronautical engineering can work as trainee engineer or junior engineer. Upon completion of their training and performance they are placed assistant aircraft engineers or assistant technical officers. Aeronautical engineers are assisted by aircraft mechanics in maintenance of aircraft frame, engine, electrical system and other ancillary fittings.
